Elizabeth “Liz” Marie Green, 64, of Willard, Washington, passed away on July 10, 2026.
Liz was born on March 17, 1962, in Colville, Washington, to Bernard Murphy and Anna Ortiz Murphy. She was the third of seven children and grew up alongside her siblings Mike, Ed, Mary, Rose, Joe, and Nick. In 1972, her family moved to White Salmon, Washington, where Liz would build a life deeply connected to her family and community.
Liz graduated from Washington State University with a bachelor’s degree in education. She worked as a substitute teacher before becoming a devoted stay-at-home mother. She homeschooled her three daughters, was very active in homeschool groups throughout the Columbia River Gorge, and dedicated much of her life to raising, teaching, and caring for her family.
On September 5, 1987, Liz married Ronald Green. Together, they built a life centered on family, creativity, service, faith, and community.
For the last 12 years, Liz served as an elected commissioner for the Public Utility District of Skamania County. She was deeply passionate about her work with the PUD and took great pride in serving the people of her community. She also served as president of the Washington Public Utility Districts Association, and was an executive committee member for the Public Power Counsel.
Liz was an active member of Evergreen Community Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Skamania County Grange. Through these organizations, her work with the PUD, and her involvement in her community, she formed lasting connections and gave generously of her time and energy.
Liz was endlessly creative and enjoyed painting, crafting, jewelry making, sewing, gardening, canning, and cooking. She brought care and imagination to everything she made and generously shared her talents with those around her.
Liz is survived by her husband, Ronald Green; her daughters, Katherine Green, Nichaela Green, and Meaghan Green; and her siblings, Edward Murphy, Mary Murphy, Rose Murphy, Joseph Murphy, and Nicholas Murphy She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard Murphy and Anna Ortiz Murphy, and her brother, Michael Murphy.
Liz will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her creativity, her faith, her strong sense of service, and the care she gave to her community.
A celebration of life for Liz will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Grace Baptist Church (1280 W Jewett Blvd, White Salmon, WA 98672).
