Perley Junior King, 70, peacefully departed this life on Saturday, July 11, 2026, leaving behind a family who will forever cherish the memories, love, and legacy he shared throughout his life.

 

Born in Wayne County on April 3, 1956, Perley was the son of the late Perley King and Gertrude Langston King. He lived a life rooted in family, finding his greatest joy in those he loved most. Though his journey on earth has come to an end, the memories he created and the lives he touched will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

 

A devoted father, Perley leaves to cherish his memory his son, Shawn; four daughters, Stephanie, Samantha, Summer, and Shana; his brother, George King; and nine sisters, Pearlie Mae King, Hazel Moultrie, Laura Bush and husband, Gilbert, Gertie McKenzie, Carol Charles, Angeline King, Doris Dungar, Juanita White and husband, Paradorn, and Ernestine King. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will remember him with love and affection.

 

In addition to his parents, Perley was preceded in death by his brothers, Wilbert King and Bobby King; and his sister, Alice Ramey.

 

A private service will be held for the family as they gather to celebrate Perley's life, reflect upon the memories they shared, and find comfort in one another during this time of loss.
