Marjorie “Margie” Jean Merideth, 96, passed away on July 19, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born August 9, 1929, in Boone County to William Keith and Georgia (Cundiff) Adair. On September 1, 1947, she married George W. Merideth.

While raising her four children, Margie began working as a bookkeeper for Dalton Material Co in 1962 then Columbia Ready Mix in 1976 and retired as Office Manager in 2006 after 64 years of service. She also volunteered for 12 years (1996–2008) in the beauty salon at The Bluffs retirement community, where her mother had been a resident.

Margie had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel like family. Her friendships were genuine and lasting, and she welcomed everyone with warmth, kindness, and an open heart. Whether you were a lifelong friend, a neighbor, or someone she had just met, she had a way of making you feel at home and like you belonged. She gave generously of her time and heart, always putting the needs of others before her own. Deeply loved by all who knew her, Margie will be remembered for her kindness, quiet strength, and the joy she brought to others. She cherished time with friends at Hartman Village, enjoyed her daily walks, and found beauty in watching the birds and the contrails stretching across the sky.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, George W. Merideth. She is survived by her four children: Sandy (Merideth) Bemboom; Judie (Merideth) Akin (David); Billy G. Merideth; and John W. Merideth (Sandy); along with 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life is planned for a later date. The family requests that donations be made to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in memory of Margie.
