Linnae June Wilson Obituary
Linnae June Wilson, 88, of Urbana, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday July 17, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on October 17, 1937, in New York City, New York, Linnae was the daughter of the late George and Lille (Manninen) Leithner.
She was a 1955 graduate of Glenbard High School and continued her education at Denison University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Education in 1959. It was during her time at Denison that she met the love of her life, Roger Bates Wilson. The two were united in marriage on June 27, 1959, in Mount Kisco, New York, beginning a remarkable journey together that spanned 67 years. Together, they built a family founded on love, compassion, and unwavering devotion to one another.
In her professional life, Linnae went to work as a teacher and children's librarian. She inspired countless young minds through her passion for learning, literature, and the arts.
She was a gifted artist whose talent was widely recognized and deeply appreciated, Linnae's paintings were cherished by family, friends, and many others, bringing beauty and joy into countless homes and hearts. She had a profound love and appreciation for nature, a passion that was beautifully reflected throughout her artwork. Whether she was painting, gardening, quilting, reading, cooking, traveling, or enjoying her daily devotions, Linnae found joy in God's creation and shared that joy with those around her.
She was an active member of the United Methodist Church, where she participated in the Church Choir and Church Circle. She was also involved with the Champaign County Arts Council, Western Ohio Watercolor Society, Champaign County Historical Society, Better Garden Club of Urbana, and Cedar Bog Nature Preserve. Her faith, artistic gifts, and generous spirit enriched every community she touched.
Above all, Linnae was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be remembered most for the way she lived her life, with kindness, grace, humility, creativity, and unwavering love for others.
She is survived by her loving husband, The Honorable Judge Roger Wilson, her
daughters, Laura (Paul O'Brian) Wilson; Holly (Gary) Frankhouse; Son, Glenn (Sharon) Wilson; her grandchildren, Justin Wilson, Melissa Wilson, Brett Wilson, Wilson Frankhouse, Walker Frankhouse, Carson Frankhouse, Lilja Frankhouse, and Dante Wilson O'Brian; her brother, Wayne (Ginny) Leithner; her beloved dog Freckles as well as several neices and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Linnae was preceded in death by her brother, Gary Leithner.
Linnae's gentle spirit, artistic legacy, and deep appreciation for the beauty of the world around her will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Thursday July 23, 2026, at Vernon Funeral Home Urbana, Ohio.
Funeral service will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Friday at Urbana Methodist Church, 238 N. Main St, Urbana, OH 43078. With Pastor Christopher Dinnell officiating.
Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
