Nancy Snider Arrants, age 93 passed away at Silver Bluff Nursing Home on July 17, 2026. A native of Davidson County, Nancy was the daughter of Odell and Edna File Snider. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Glen Arrants who died in 2009.

Nancy was a nurse at Haywood County Health Department for 15 years before retiring to travel with her husband and enjoy her grandchildren. Her favorite activities were gardening and taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always kept homemade pound cake or brownies in the freezer “for the kids”.

She was a faithful member of Waynesville First Baptist Church for 54 years, serving as a Sunday School teacher and in many other capacities. The church was truly her second home. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother James Snider and her sister, Ann Snider Nails.

She is survived by her sister, Velma Snider Swicegood and her daughters, Rebecca Lehman (Dudley) and Cathy McCracken (Bill). Also, by grandsons, Luke McCracken (Mary Curtis) and Mark McCracken (Margaret) and lastly by great grandchildren, Lenna Kate McCracken, Hart McCracken, Max McCracken and Hunter McCracken.

Services will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at Smoky Mountain Cremations and Funeral Service 3732 Soco Road, Maggie Valley, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., with the Celebration of Life service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow services at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family requests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in lieu of flowers.
