James Allen Greene Obituary

James Allen Greene, 68, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Richmond County Hospice Haven surrounded by his loving family.

Born on April 9, 1958, James was the son of the late Allen Baucom Greene and Clara Goodwin Floyd. He proudly served his country in the United States Army before working in textiles, then beginning a career with Rex Floor Covering, Inc., where he worked faithfully for 31 years. James genuinely loved his job and the friendships he made throughout his career.

James found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He enjoyed fishing, following NASCAR, and meeting his friends for breakfast at the Holiday Restaurant, where good conversation was always on the menu. A quiet, friendly man, James never met a stranger and loved visiting with those around him. He also had a special place in his heart for his faithful dog, Lady.

Above all else, James treasured his family. His greatest blessing was the love he shared with his wife, Jerrie, who was truly the love of his life. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose kindness, steady presence, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

James leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Jerrie Parker Greene of the home; his sons, James Eric Greene and wife, Cindy, of Rockingham and Bryan Greene and wife, Frances, of Rockingham; his stepchildren, Gloria Stephens and husband, Khaled, of Hamlet, Rebecca Morton and husband, Donald, of Hamlet, and Jakecob Chavis, whom he affectionately called his "little birddog"; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, William Greene and wife, Bridget, of Ellerbe and Stephen Greene and wife, Erica, of Wadesboro; sisters, Clara Lynn Kerns of Wallace, NC, Debora Bond and husband, James, of Rockingham, and Gwen Elizabeth Greene of Aberdeen; his close friend, Bobby Smith; and many extended family members and dear friends.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death a granddaughter; step-father, Raymond Floyd; and sister, Julia Greene.

James will be remembered for his gentle spirit, warm conversations, unwavering love for his family, and the countless lives he touched through his kindness and friendship. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026 from 1:00-2:00pm at Grace Fellowship Church, Rockingham.

The funeral service will immediately follow visitation, beginning at 2:00pm, with Pastor Roger Webster officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond County Memorial Park.

At other times, the family will receive friends at the home on Center Street, Cordova.
