Mary Lou Quirk (Lonsberry) Obituary
Our family lost its brightest light on July 15, 2026 when Mary Lou Quirk passed away at home at the age of 85.
Mary Lou was born in Beacon, the daughter of Marcus and Edna “Teddy” Lonsberry. She met the love of her life, Aloysius “Corke” Quirk and they married in 1959. She graduated from Beacon High School and the Krissler Business Institute. She went on to work at Texaco in Beacon and Sonotone in Cold Spring. Later, after her youngest child entered school full time, she worked for Fishkill Correctional Facility and Downstate Correctional Facility until her retirement in 2002.
Mary Lou was an avid reader who always enjoyed relaxing with a good book up at the lake. She loved her regular Mahjong games with “the girls,” and she looked forward to playing Pinochle every Friday night with Corke and their closest friends.
Alongside the love of her life, Mary Lou raised four children who today have families of their own. She was deeply dedicated to her family and never missed a Girl or Boy Scout meeting, sporting event, dance recital, or school activity. As the years passed, this extended to her grandchildren and their activities as well.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years Aloysius, and her four children: Dean (Arlene), Kimberlee (John), Terri, and Kristi (Gene). She also leaves behind 8 grandchildren: Dean Jr. (Jessica), Danielle (Nick), John Jr. (Tiffanie), Anthony (Jillian), Kaitlyn (Matt), Ian (Tiara), Savanah (Sasawat), Rylie and 3 great-grandchildren: Jaxton, Cillian, and Kennedy; and many nieces and nephews who will all miss her deeply. She was preceded in death by her brother, Marcus Lonsberry and her son in-law Marvin Myers.
Our family would like to thank the Hudson Valley Hospice team, especially her nurse Ellen, and her aide Tonya, who helped our family during this difficult time.
If it so fills your heart, donations can be made to Hudson Valley Hospice in Mary Lou’s Memory.
Family and friends will gather on Tuesday, July 21 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Riverview Funeral Home by Halvey, 2 Beekman Street, Beacon. A funeral service will be held at Christ Church United Methodist, 60 Union Street, Beacon, on July 22 at 10 a.m followed by burial at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
