Andrea “Susanne” Pennington, beloved daughter, mother, sister, aunt, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on July 12, 2026. She was born on September 29, 1951, in Ely, Nevada.

Susanne was preceded in death by her adored husband, William Pennington; her father, Eldon “Curly” Young; and her mother, Gloria Young.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Mary Jill Gianoli (Joseph, and his daughters, Mikayla and Gabrielle Chamoun); her most cherished friends, Patricia Ince, Mimi Thiessen and Gary Yup; Jill's father (Paul Gianoli), her brother, Terry Young (Marshele), their children, Brandon, Courtney, and Zachary; her sister, Michele Braid (Douglas), their children, Ashley, Patrick, and stepdaughters Lyndy Woodward and Crystel DuRocher.

Susanne was a successful businesswoman and entrepreneur whose creativity, vision, and passion touched countless lives. She founded and owned Susanne’s and Bella Bella salons before following her love of adventure and photography to create Adventures Elite Africa, a photographic safari company.

She was a deeply generous and compassionate person regarding philanthropy and giving back to her community. She established the Susanne & Gloria Young Foundation, which supported local needs and reflected her deep commitment to at-risk women and children. She was especially driven to help build schools in Africa and locally with the expansion of Little Flower Catholic School. Susanne also served on numerous boards, including the Community Foundation, Pioneer Theater, and Nevada Ballet.

A devout Catholic, Susanne found deep solace attending daily mass at Carmel of Reno as well as Little Flower Parish. Her faith, generosity, and unwavering desire to help others were central to the community. She loved playing golf and was a member of Tehama Golf Club and the Hidden Valley Country Club.

Susanne was a bright light in this world. She lived with passion, purpose, and a remarkable ability to make a difference in the lives of those around her. She helped so many and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the many people whose lives she touched.

We want to extend our deepest appreciation to family and friends who blessed her throughout her entire life especially during her most difficult times.

Susanne's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
