Alan Mitchell, 84, of St. Paris, Ohio, passed away on July 14, 2026.
He was born August 20, 1941, in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Howard Arthur and Muriel Evelyn (Rust) Mitchell.
Alan was a graduate of Graham High School. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved Civil War and Champaign County History, along with spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughters Diana (Mike) Jett, Kimberly Mitchell, Heidi (Matt) Clark, Jennifer (Eric) Coleman; sister, Cynthia Wyant; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Mitchell; and son, Doug Mitchell.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10:00am-12:00pm on Tuesday, July 21st, 2026, at VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, Ohio with funeral service to immediately follow with Tim Wyant to officiate.
Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, St. Paris, Ohio.
