Kenneth Owen Bowser Obituary
Kenneth Owen Bowser, age 91, passed away Tuesday July 14, 2026, at home. Mr. Bowser was born on a farm near Ft. Wayne, Indiana, to parents Harold and Emily (Evard) Bowser on Aug. 4, 1934. He graduated from New Haven High School in 1953. He was drafted into the Army from 1957- 1959 and was stationed in Germany. While serving, he represented his unit as a sharp shooter on their competitive rifle team. All of the squirrel and coon hunting he did back home before the army gave him the ability to hit the bullseye every time at 600 yards in these tough competitions.
After the army, he aimed his sights in a different way. He met Marjorie Kelley in 1959. They married and became the parents of 3 children, Terry Bowser Howell, Rex Bowser, and Kimberly Bowser Griffiths. He took great pride in being a master craftsman while working in the home building field for 55 years. He started making wooden bowls in his retirement and sold over 8000 of them at local craft shows.
He enjoyed a lifetime of hunting and fishing as well as spending time with his family while sitting around the campfire on many camping trips. His smile, laughter, and orneriness will be missed by all. A daughter, Terry Bowser Howell preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife Marjorie, son Rex and daughter in law, Lisa, daughter Kimberly and son-in-law Tom Griffiths, grandsons Tyler Howell and Glen Griffiths and step grandson, Jared Franklin. He also has a sister, Joyce (Wilbur) Hollinger and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation and funeral services will be held Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville. Visitation will be held from 11:00am - 1:00pm followed by a funeral service at 1:00pm. Pastor Kimberly Kennedy will officiate the service.
