Bobby Glenn Purnell, age 59, of Goldsboro went to his heavenly home, on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at WakeMed in Raleigh NC.

He was a gentle soul who would do anything for anyone. He was a kind and loving person. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his friends. We will always remember Bobby’s favorite movie of all times which was Star Wars. He has watched every episode from the beginning to the end. One of his best hobbies was watching college basketball, his favorite team was the North Carolina Tarheels. Most of all his favorite things to do is spend time with his children, nieces and nephews. He cherished every moment with them, and they also enjoyed every moment with him. You would always find Bobby at his sister Peggy’s house sitting with her husband Steve under their gazebo. That was his favorite place to be. He will be truly missed by everyone, but he is resting now with God.

Bobby was born in Wayne County on July 7, 1967, to the late Joe and Minnie Purnell. His son Jerald Clark Blizzard-Purnell and his sister Annie Purnell also preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories to his children, Corey Purnell (Brianna); Hope Blizzard-Purnell both of Goldsboro NC; and Patrick Hill of Lawton Oklahoma. His siblings, Jo-Ann Parks (Willard) of Chester VA; Peggy Williams (Stephen Sr.); Teresa Whitley (Devonne) both of Goldsboro NC; Rickie Purnell (Lisa) of Kinston NC; Betty Hobbs of Goldsboro NC; Phillip Purnell (Sonya) of Mount Olive NC; four grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; two special friends Betty Dyson and Jill Purnell and his beloved dogs.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Monday, July 20, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
