Jacqueline Ann Lyles Obituary

Jacqueline “Jackie” Ann Lyles, 80, was called home to glory on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.

Jackie was born on April 23, 1946, in Plainfield, New Jersey, to the late James Pearyer and Catherine Perkins. She was the third eldest of Catherine’s nine children and attended the Plainfield public school system. At a young age, she married the late James Lyles, and though their journey together was cut short, she never remarried.

Jackie had a deep love for her family, music, and cooking. She found her greatest happiness in bringing people together and sharing those passions with family and friends. Her home was often filled with music, laughter, and love; it was not uncommon for an impromptu gathering to turn into a joyful celebration. Nothing brought Jackie greater pride or happiness than spending time with her children and grandchildren, whom she loved beyond measure.

Jackie dedicated many years of service to Abbott Manor Senior Living, where she worked her way to the position of Head Cook. She retired in 1996 after faithfully serving the residents and staff, forming many lifelong friendships along the way.

Jackie was preceded in death by her father, James Pearyer; her mother, Catherine Perkins; her stepfather, Charles Perkins; her husband, James Lyles; her daughter, Tonya Lyles; her brothers, Larry Pearyer, Vincent Pearyer, and Lavon Pearyer; and her sisters, Joan Simmons and Sheila Pearyer.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving daughters, Kim (Dennis) Anderson and Eileen (Divine) McCoy; her son, Maurice (Laceitta) Lyles; her grandsons, Ibn Lyles, Divine Lyles, and Sharif Anderson; her granddaughters, Nyajah Lyles, Kiera Anderson, and Kamaya Lyles; her great-granddaughters, Aliyah Lyles and Ava Lyles; her brother, James “Jimmy” Pearyer; her sisters, Antoinette “Tonie” Perkins and Sophia Perkins; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and dear friends who will forever miss her.

Jackie was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend. Her kindness, laughter, and generous spirit left an imprint on everyone who knew her. If Jackie touched your life and brought a smile to your face, consider yourself truly blessed.

Though she will be deeply missed, her love, strength, and beautiful memories will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
