Luevenna Bass Obituary

Luevenna Bass was born on December 16, 1946, in Alexander City, Alabama, to the late Martha Bass and Albert Benson. She spent much of her childhood in Alabama, where she created lasting memories and built the foundation for the loving and caring woman she would become. She graduated from Laurel High School in 1966 and later moved to Plainfield, New Jersey, in 1968, where she made her home and spent the majority of her life.

Luevenna was a dedicated and hardworking woman. She devoted 30 years of service to Silvatrim Corporation of America in South Plainfield, New Jersey. After many years in that field, she decided to follow a new path and attended classes at Plainfield High School to become a certified Home Health Aide. Through this career, she was able to share her caring spirit and compassion with others until her retirement.

Affectionately known as “Lue,” she enjoyed the simple joys of life. She loved watching baseball and was a proud supporter of the New York Mets. She also enjoyed basketball and passionately cheered for the Golden State Warriors. Above all, Lue treasured spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her endless happiness and pride.

Luevenna was preceded in death by her parents, Martha Parker and Albert Benson; her sisters, Susan Hines, Beacie Mack, Christine Halsey, and Willie Pearl Gardner; and her brothers, Rance Farris and Timothy Farris Jr.

She leaves behind to cherish and celebrate her beautiful memory: her longtime companion, Johnny Johnson; her sister, Delia Farris; her brothers, James Bass and Joseph Bass; her beloved and only daughter, Michelle Mayfield (Gregory Mayfield); her grandchildren, Shancara Cox, Sadiyah Lewis, and Shan Cox; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends. Luevenna’s love, laughter, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
