Betty Lou Sherrell (Unruh) Obituary
Betty L. Sherrell, age 93, of Weston, WV, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving children. Born on June 15, 1933, in Montezuma, KS, she was the daughter of William and Augusta Unruh.
Betty was preceded in death by her first husband, Clyde W. Sherrell, whom she married on June 15, 1952, and her second husband, Marvin F. Mick, whom she married on March 22, 1985. She was also preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Clydene Garrett, and her son, Robert. In addition, she was preceded by her brothers and sisters-in-law: Lee Unruh and wife Marie, Larry Unruh, Allen Unruh and wife Wilma, Wally Unruh and wife Betty May, Dale Unruh, Raymond Unruh, and her sister, Dolly Poggendorf and husband Paul.
Betty is survived by her cherished sons and daughters in law: James and wife Connie, Carl and wife Judy, Mike and wife Barbara, and son-in-law Bruce Garrett, all of Weston, WV. She was a proud grandmother to Samuel Thomas and Betty of Camden, WV, James Sherrell II and wife Maren of Bridgeport, WV, Marc Sherrell and wife Kara of Morgantown, WV, Cory Sherrell and wife Elizabeth of Washington, PA, Christopher Sherrell of Katy, TX, Roberta Green and husband Drew of Michigan, Elizabeth Jones and husband Kevin of Batavia, OH, Carlyn Morschhauser and husband Jeramie of Allen, TX, Amanda Long and husband Kyle of Weston, WV, Sarah Sherrell of Weston, WV, and Nicholas Sherrell and wife Briana of Weston, WV. Betty also adored her great-grandchildren: Samantha Thomas, Jackson, Ella and Grace Sherrell, Carson and Addison Sherrell, Abagail, Emily and Eleanor Green, Sebastian Grille, Sophia Sherrell, and Cohen Sherrell. Griffin, Gwen, Garrin, Graham Morschhauser, Laurel and Hattie Long. She is also survived by her brother Lester Unruh and wife Verla and numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty was co-owner of Allegheny Wireline Services in Weston, WV. She was instrumental in the company's success, running the office while raising five young children. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Naples, FL, and Weston, WV, as well as the Eastern Star and Ladies Golf Association at Bears Paw Country Club in Naples, FL. She enjoyed being around her family, playing golf, and bridge.
Betty's warmth, kindness, and love will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
Viewing will be held at Hardman's Family Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Tuesday July 14th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Services will follow and then graveside service at the Forest lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Betty's memory to a charity of your choice.
