Barbara Paige Smith, 73, of Weston, West Virginia, went to be with her Heavenly Father on July 8, 2026, in Charleston, West Virginia. Born on July 31, 1952, to the late Clyde Woodrow and Rosa Bell (Barrett) Bush, she was raised in Burnsville, WV. She was a long-time resident of Charleston until the last six years which she resided in Weston, WV. Barbara is preceded in death by her late husband, Collett Smith, and her parents.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Jody Lynn Bush, granddaughter, Alanys Bush, two great-granddaughters, Avia and Alyson, her siblings, Clyde Junior Bush and Tona, Louise Ratliff and husband Tom, Jerry Bush and wife Debbie, Rick Bush and wife Helen, Connie Burgett and husband John and Margie Mills and husband Tom. She also has several nieces and nephews.

Barbara graduated from WV State College in Institute with a degree in Criminal Justice. She was employed as a security guard most of her work career and also worked at the State Capitol for WV Safe Schools under the WV Division of Homeland Security for the last 10 years prior to retiring.

She loved Monwell, her Amazon parrot, and her beloved kitties. She also loved traveling abroad and snorkeling in Costa Rica, Honduras and Nicaragua; and even did some scuba diving.

Barbara’s greatest accomplishment was that she sought out and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and received the gift of eternal life.

Family and friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at Hardman Family Funeral Home, 730 N. Main Avenue, Weston, where funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Tim Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow at Dunn Memorial Cemetery of Cross, Lanes, WV.
