Calvin Rankin Sr. Obituary
Mr. Calvin (Ray) Rankin, Sr. was born on January 25, 1939, in Greenville County, South Carolina, to the late James W. Rankin and the late Lola D. Brown Rankin. On Thursday, July 9, 2026, God gently called him from labor to eternal rest while at McCall Hospice House.
Calvin accepted Christ as his Savior and faithfully worshipped at Flat Rock Baptist Church. He attended Sterling High School and was employed by Collins Music Company and Joy Time, where he worked diligently throughout his career.
Calvin was a devoted husband, loving father, caring grandfather, cherished brother, faithful uncle, and trusted friend. He treasured spending time with those he loved most and will be remembered for his quiet strength, kind spirit, warm smile, and unwavering love for his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James W. Rankin and Lola D. Brown Rankin; his beloved sons, Calvin Rankin, Jr.; and Michael Thompson, one sister, Hynetha Vaughn, and a brother, James Fowler.
Those left to cherish his precious memories include his devoted wife of 69 years, Mrs. Margaret E. Rankin of the home; his children, Diane Rankin, Rebecca (Willie) Paden, and Leonard Rankin; five sons, Morroca Clark, Tony Richardson, James Hayes, Sylvester Taylor, and Demetrius Croft; four daughters, Roshanda Butler, Ralanda Butler, Louise Ware, and Benita Clark; 28 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many dear friends whose lives were blessed by his presence.
