Susan Moore Obituary
Susan Moore, 82, of Des Moines, Iowa left this world on July 6, 2026, to reunite with her husband Larry for heavenly adventures just as they had done throughout their lives together.
The daughter of Ray and Ruth Benson, Susan was born in Oelwein, Iowa and spent her early years on a farm near Elkader. While continuing her education at the University of lowa, she met Larry and their worldwide journeys together began. Following Larry's service as an Army helicopter pilot in Vietnam, they spent a few years in Storm Lake. Later, they made their home in Humboldt, near Larry's limestone quarry and pellet manufacturing facility. ln 2010, they retired to Des Moines. Her gift to the city in honor of Larry is a limestone water feature and children's play area at MacRae Park on Des Moines’ South Side.
