Barbara Ellen Maier of Delevan, NY passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, at The Pines Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Machias at the age of 98.

She was born on April 27, 1928, in Syracuse, NY, a daughter of the late Herbert Samuel and Beulah Ellen (McCloud) Howes.

Barbara was a faithful member of Hope Lutheran Church in Arcade. She found great joy in quilting and sewing, sharing her creativity and talents with those she loved throughout her life.

On August 14, 1954, she married Julias Calvin Maier, who preceded her in death on December 19, 2013.

Barbara is survived by her children: Beverly Ellen (Ed, Sr.) McCarthy of Delevan, Mark N. (Linda) Maier of Marquette, MI, J. Carter (Roxanne) Maier of St. Louis, MO, and Glenn H. Maier of Carson, NV. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Barbara was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.

In keeping with Barbara's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
