Raymond Ryals Obituary
Raymond Manford Ryals, 90, of Atkins, went to be with the Lord on June 27, 2026, at Russellville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Russellville, Arkansas. He was born on December 23, 1935, son of the late Thomas Earl and Charlestine Oglesby Ryals.
Raymond served in the U.S Navy. He was a business owner in Atkins from the early 1960's to 1975. He worked for KARK in Little Rock as a production engineer for a short time. He worked as an instrument technician at Arkansas Nuclear One from 1975 until his retirement in 1995. After retirement, he loved to travel in an RV with his wife, making several trips around the country. Raymond was a member of Atkins First Assembly of God and served on the trustee board of the church. He was active in operating the sound equipment and recording both audio and video during the church services. He also produced the church bulletin until his health declined. He was active in the Atkins community, involved as a Little League Baseball coach, a Boy Scout leader, and in the Jaycees.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 61 years, Bettye Ryals; 3 sisters, Billie Ann Randall, Earlene Ryals, and Patsy Farney; 3 aunts, Micky Moss, Nell Walker, and Wilna Millwood.
He is survived by a daughter, Rayla Hearne and husband Robert; a son, Brian Ryals and wife Tracy; four grandchildren, Amanda Bledsoe and husband Adam; Leah Sullins and husband Shane; Chad Hearne and wife Dawn; and James Ryals and wife Rhonda; eight great-grandchildren; Taylor Wallace, Bailey Ryals, Audrey Bledsoe, Andrew Hearne, Hunter Bledsoe, Ty Jacobs, Avery Hearne, Jaxon Jacobs, and Nate Jacobs; and numerous other family, friends, and a special friend Kathryn Duvall.
A special thanks to the Russellville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Arkansas Hospice as well as other caregivers and health care workers that helped in caring for our dad.
Pallbearers will be James Ryals, Chad Hearne, Adam Bledsoe, Andrew Hearne, Hunter Bledsoe, and Bailey Ryals.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 1, from 6:30-8:30 PM at Lemley Funeral Home in Atkins. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 2, at Atkins First Assembly of God Church in Atkins with Brian Ryals and Robert Hearne officiating. Burial will be at Atkins Cemetery under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins.
