Joan Hosch Geter was born on August 15, 1943 in Davie County, NC. She peacefully entered into eternal rest on June 26, 2026 surrounded by her family. During her time here, Joan showered her family and friends with selfless acts of kindness, timely support, words of wisdom and much love.

Joan graduated from Davie County Training School in 1961. She later pursued a career in nursing and obtained an associate degree from Rowan Technical Community College. Joan worked as a licensed Practical Nurse for many years but later decided to continue her education and became a Registered Nurse. Joan was last employed at Rowan Regional Medical Center in Labor and Delivery, where she retired in 2007, after 30 years of service.

Upon retirement, Joan pursued her other interest. She had many gifts and talents that she often shared with her family and friends. Through her love for cooking, sewing and crafting, her friends and family were often recipients of the wonderful items that she created. One of the many treats that she was known county wide for was her “Crunchies”. Her crunchies will greatly be missed by those that had the pleasure of eating them. In addition to the love for her many hobbies, Joan loved spending time with her family. Her family was the highlight of her life. Joan also enjoyed serving at her church, Erwin Temple CME. She served as a missionary, a past president of the usher board and sang in the choir for many years.

Preceding her in death was her mother, Claudene Hosch, father, Benny Joe Hosch, sister, Faye Hosch, brothers, Benjamin Hosch and Billy McFarley.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 61 years, Herbert Geter, Sr., daughter, Renee (Russell) and son Herbert, Jr. (Crystal), 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews and lifelong friends.
