Jack Lawrence Vogt, age 50, passed away tragically on June 11, 2026. Born on February 13, 1976, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Jack was named after his father’s best friend and his father, carrying a name that reflected friendship, family, and love from the very beginning of his life.

Jack was the beloved son of Jan and Larry Vogt, who preceded him in death. He grew up in Cincinnati and graduated from Colerain High School with the Class of 1994. During his younger years, Jack played basketball and carried with him a lifelong love for his hometown, especially the Cincinnati Bengals, the Cincinnati Bearcats, and the joy of fantasy football. Even his favorite season was fall in Cincinnati.

Jack was easy to love and easy to be around. At his best, he was accepting, silly, lighthearted, loving, and full of warmth. He had a heart of gold and believed that everyone else did too. He was not critical or judgmental, and he had a special gift for making people feel comfortable. Jack took love and respect seriously, but he was gentle with people. He had a true heart for service, especially for the elderly, and he loved his work in valet, where he was known to send people off with his familiar words, “Get home safely for me.”

Jack’s love story with Jessica began over the phone while they were both working for Cash America. What started as phone conversations became something neither of them could deny. After talking for a year, Jessica flew to Cincinnati to meet him, where Jack was waiting with pink roses. Just nine weeks later, he moved to Texas sight unseen, bringing only two suitcases and taking a 37-hour train ride to begin a new life with the woman who would become his wife. Jack loved Jessica’s voice and her southern accent, but even more than that, he admired her heart, her strength, and the way she always tried to do the right thing. One of his greatest joys was surprising her with a 30th birthday party, followed by a proposal.

Of all the roles Jack held in his life, being Luke’s dad was one of his greatest honors. He could hardly believe he had been part of creating someone so beautiful. He loved the simple moments with Luke: driving around the block, stopping for snow cones, picking up surprises after school from Dollar Tree, watching superhero movies, and hoping Luke might one day share his love for Aquaman. Jack wanted Luke to grow into a respectful young man, especially toward his mother, and he cared deeply that Luke learned to treat others with kindness. When Luke was sick or hurting, Jack would cry and tell him he wished he could take all of his pain times ten onto himself. That was the depth of Jack’s love as a father.

Jack loved golf, talking to friends on the phone, listening to music, and collecting baseball cards. He loved king crab legs, oatmeal cream pies, coffee, Halloween, the Deftones, Sevendust, The Sopranos, and Sons of Anarchy. He famously hated mayonnaise and ranch, and he had a way of making people laugh with his quick humor and unforgettable sayings. Jack was funny, loyal, protective, hardworking, generous, adventurous, gentle, and deeply loving.

Jack’s life was not without hardship, but hardship was never the whole story of who he was. Those who loved him knew his sweetness, his humor, his tenderness, and the love he carried for his family. He leaves behind memories that are honest, complicated, beautiful, and deeply human. He will be remembered for his heart, his laughter, his service, his love for Jessica, and the immeasurable love he had for his son, Luke.

Jack is survived by the love of his life, Jessica; his beloved son, Luke Lawrence Vogt; his sister, Venetta Varney and her husband, Dave; his nephews, Austin (Marissa) and Alex Diesel; his father and mother-in-law Bobby and Jami Gordon, sister-in-laws Kali Gordon; Brittany Voxland (Michael); Laci Moss (Jeff); a niece and three nephews; and many other family members and friends who loved him dearly. He is also preceded in death by two close friends, Dave Thomas and KC Bierbaum.

Honorary pallbearers are Ben Kissell, Frank Scigliulo, Jason Dicks, Brian Burr, Phillip Miller, Jon Hellkamp, Dave Martin, Mike Ferneding, and Christopher Wynn.

A memorial service honoring Jack’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Church Angels Funeral Home, 6301 Granbury Road, Fort Worth, Texas 76133. Guests are invited to dress comfortably in a way that reflects Jack’s personality. Bengals gear, black and orange, or comfortable clothing are welcome, as Jack was accepting of everyone and would have wanted people to feel at ease.

Flowers may be sent to the funeral home on July 7. In lieu of flowers, donations may also be made in Jack’s memory to The W.A.R.M. Place, an organization supporting grieving children and families.

Jack's family takes comfort in the words of Psalm 23:4. “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me".

Jack will be remembered for his heart, his humor, his kindness, and the deep love he carried for Jessica, Luke, his family, and his friends. Though his passing leaves an ache that words cannot fully express, the love he gave and the memories he leaves behind will remain forever.
