Reginald Norris Workman

Our good friend, patriot, and brother has died; this obituary is to honor and remember his life. Reggie Workman now rests in peace with his and our Lord Jesus after passing in his sleep on June 23, 2026. He was 72 years old, served in the US Air Force, and was a member of the Maysel Baptist Church.

Reggie was born in Clay, WV, the son of Hollie and Mary Belle Workman. He attended both Marshall and West Virginia University before beginning a distinguished career that took him across the country. He lived in Florida, Maine, his beloved Texas, Connecticut, New York, and several other states before building his final home in Shelbyville, TN. He retired as an Executive Vice President for Cablevision & Time Warner where he was a celebrated technologist and manager, holding numerous patents and awards for his innovative work.

In retirement, Reggie embraced the outdoors with a passion. An avid pilot, scuba diver, motorcyclist, fisherman, builder, and traveler; he found his greatest joy in operating his beloved mini excavator, bulldozers and other heavy equipment. He was a dedicated builder and craftsman who loved creating and improving things with his hands.

He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Michael and Robin Workman of Hickory, NC., his niece Heather Workman (Bradley) and his nephews Mark Tanner (Deb) and Nathan Workman (Emily), all living in North Carolina and his best friends Mark Bak, Steve Thompson and Tom Rutledge. All of whom he loved like brothers. Also surviving is Macy, Reggie’s beloved dog.

A gathering of family and friends will be held to celebrate Reggie’s life on Sunday, July 5, 2026, between 1-3 p.m. at Doak-Howell Funeral Home in Shelbyville, TN. Military honors will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. After services, a small gathering of friends at his home.

Reggie will be laid to rest at Indian Trail Cemetery in NC at a later date.
