Joyce McPeek Obituary

Joyce McPeek, age 98, of Mount Vernon, passed away on

Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Brookdale of Mount Vernon.


She was born on December 14, 1927, in Mount Vernon to the late

Roscoe I. and Sarah E. (White) Deem.


Joyce raised her three children then worked several years for the

City Health Department and later retired from the Knox County

Joint Vocational School. She was a long-time member of the Pine

Street Church of God.


Joyce is survived by her son, Jack (Penny) McPeek and her

daughter, Janet (Dan) Sigman; three grandchildren: Nature

McPeek, D.J. Sigman, Courtney (Austin) Wood; seven great-

grandchildren: Kelcy (Cody) Fowler, Morgan Pilotti, Lilly Hall,

Danielle Sigman, Hannah Sigman, Natalie Sigman and Emily

Wood; three great great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and

nephews.


She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. McPeek, a

son, James Michael McPeek, brothers and sisters: Fred Deem,

Harry Deem, Clyde Deem, Barney Deem, Edward Deem, Wilma

Neighbarger, Ethel Corcoran, Dora Blubaugh and Pauline

Boucher.


Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 10:00 AM

– 12:00 PM at Snyder Funeral Home – Lasater Chapel, 11337

Upper Gilchrist Road in Mount Vernon. Funeral services will

follow at 12:00 Noon. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Memorial

Gardens.


The family would like to give special thanks to nieces Beverly

Morehouse and Sally Moxley, as well as the staff of Luminary

Hospice and Brookdale of Mount Vernon for the special care they

gave Joyce.
