Our beloved Sonia Sanchez, age 37 and a resident of Austin, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 30, 2026.

Sonia was a devoted mother, a cherished daughter, sister, and loyal friend who always put a smile on their faces. Sonia brought warmth, laughter, and endless love to everyone who knew her. Her bright spirit and generous heart left an unforgettable mark on our lives.

Sonia is survived by her parents, Sylvia Ann Carroll and Roger Anthony Sanchez; her beloved daughters, Isabella Danielle Rivera, Lena Marie Rivera, Lucia Anna Rivera; and their father, Luis Rivera; along with her siblings, Rene Anthony Sanchez, Tracy Sanchez Cadena, Tara Carroll, Ruben Sanchez, Philip Goytia Carroll, Clara Felthauser, and Paul Baxter. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many other loving family members and friends.

She was well known for her delicious banana pudding cupcakes, with a dream to someday open her own bakery named ‘Sunny’s Bakery.’ Sonia’s baking was always considered when her family & friends were planning any celebration from birthdays, to weddings & quinceañeras, or just because they craved some cupcakes for themselves. Despite her busy schedule with her daughters, she always found a way to fit in a baking order.

Sonia’s greatest joy and proudest achievement was building a beautiful life, raising three incredible daughters. She poured her heart into supporting her girls. She spent countless weekends traveling to softball tournaments with her oldest daughter, Bella. Sonia was overjoyed for Bella to play college softball at UTSA this upcoming fall, giving her a reason to travel & explore new places. She supported her younger daughters, Lena & Lucia, in choir and was excited to put her focus on any passion that they enjoyed. Her passing will leave an empty space in our hearts, and we will miss her deeply.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026 from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with Funeral Service beginning at 3:00 p.m., at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel, 6204 S 1st Street, Austin, Texas 78745.
