David Allen Smith

David Allen Smith, Unionville, MO, age 68, passed away on June 2nd ,

2026 at Putnam County Memorial Hospital. David was born March 8th,

1958, the oldest child of Harry and Betty (Allen) Smith.

He is survived by his sister, Annette (Smith) Reger and brother-in-law, Mark

of Holts Summit, MO. He is survived by 3 nieces: Jennnifer Crawford

(Independence, MO), Jessica Ishmael (St. Louis, MO), and Hannah Reger

(Jefferson City, MO) as well as 3 nephews: Jacob Reger (Moberly, MO),

Travis Reger (Fulton, MO) and Kendall Reger (Warrensburg, MO). Also

surviving are 3 aunts: Reta Ollmann (Cairo, MO), Arlene Allen (Unionville,

MO), and Emeline Allen (Kahoka, MO) and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, his parents, 7

uncles: Warren Allen (Lucerne, MO), Robert Allen (Ottumwa, IA), Lloyd

Allen (Unionville, MO), Paul Allen (Kahoka, MO), Travis Smith (Newton, IA),

Richard Pierce (Cincinnati, IA), Bob Ollmann (Cairo, MO) and 4 aunts:

Nellie Smith (Newton, IA), Leta Allen (Corydon, IA), Evelyn Allen (Ottumwa,

IA), Neta Pierce (Cairo, MO). He was also preceded in death by 3 cousins,

Paul Lavaine Allen, Elaine (Allen) Breckenridge, and Rick Pierce.

David attended Putnam CountySchool District. He graduated in 1976.

David worked various jobs after high school including Missouri Mining Coal

Company, Premium Standard Farms, and working as a local farm hand.

David enjoyed being outside, going on walks and exploring nature. He

enjoyed watching comedies and had a contagious laugh. “Big D” will be

sadly missed by friends and family.

Graveside services will be held at Friendship Cemetery north of Omaha,

MO on June 6th at 11:00.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Friendship Cemetery.
