Michael E. Molnar, 73, of Avella, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 31, 2026.
He was born on October 2, 1952, in Washington, PA, son of the late Ernest and Dolores Jean Martin Molnar.
Mike was a 1970 graduate of Avella High School and worked as a Boilermaker out of Local 154 of Pittsburgh for 36 years, retiring in 2010. In addition to working as a boilermaker, he was also a fulltime farmer from 1977 until his passing; raising beef cattle and sheep.
He was a member of the Washington County Conservation District, Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, Penn State Extension Board, Washington County Cattlemen’s Association and WV Beekeepers of Oglebay.
He enjoyed farming and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
On December 27, 1974, he married Carolyn Jane Hunter, who survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 51 years are his children, Josh (Andrea) Molnar of Mt. Airy, MD, Matthew Molnar of Grantsville and Stephanie (Daniel) Atkins of Lebanon; eight grandchildren, Gavin and Grant Molnar, Silas, Maisy, Calie and Briar Atkins, Anna and Lucas Molnar; a half-sister, Brenda Fetty of Steubenville, OH; and several cousins.
Friends and family will be received from 4pm-8pm on Friday, June 12, in the Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home Inc., 18 Campbell Street, Avella, PA 15312, where a Boilermaker Service will be held at 7pm. Funeral services will also be held in the funeral home at 11am on Saturday, June 13, with Dave Smith officiating.
Burial will be in Independence Cemetery, Avella.
