Geraldine E. (Munroe) Orlando, 90, of Gloucester, died on Monday May 18th after a long and courageous battle with dementia and other health related issues, she was surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Gloucester on December 24th, 1935, to the late Herbert and Myra M. (Moulton) Munroe.

Geraldine Orlando was a kind, caring, and strong woman who dedicated her life to her family, friends, and community. She found joy in crafting, sewing, and spending meaningful time with the people she loved most. Geraldine was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, and her generosity and compassion touched many lives. After retiring from the Gloucester Times, she continued working for many years at a local candy store, enjoying the friendships and sense of purpose it brought her.

Geraldine was fiercely independent and full of life. She especially loved taking rides along the Back Shore, admiring the beauty of the ocean. Above all, she treasured her family and was a proud grandmother to three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy.

She is lovingly remembered by her sisters, Anne Winchester-Martin of Gloucester and Marilyn Ramsey of South Carolina; her brother Herbert Munroe of Gloucester;  her granddaughter Amanda Orlando and her husband Jonathan Ducharme of Chelmsford; their children Katarina, Jack, and Madison. Her grandson Phillip Orlando of Port Richey, Florida and his wife Jessica; as well as their children Isabel, Kayden, and Emma Lee.

She was predeceased by her sisters Janice Perry and Barbara Jean Powalisz, her brother Thomas Munroe of Gloucester; her late husband Paul Stillman; Her son Michael P. Orlando; and her grandson Michael A. Orlando.

Her warmth, strength and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Geraldine’s graveside funeral service will be at Beechbrook Cemetery, Gloucester, on Thursday, May 28th at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
