Sherry Lee Johnson, 78, of Thomas Township, our remarkably strong-willed, compassionate, and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by the love of her family, on Wednesday, April 15, 2026—just three days shy of her 79th birthday. Sherry was born on April 18, 1947, in Marion, Ohio, the daughter of the late Andrew and Doris (Ray) Markva.

Sherry spent her life nurturing and caring for her family and friends, making an unforgettable impact on all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her family was her everything; she poured her heart and soul into being an incredible wife, mother, and grandmother. Her love knew no bounds, and she devoted herself to creating a warm and loving home.

Sherry met the love of her life, Douglas Lee Johnson. Their love blossomed, leading to a beautiful marriage on June 16, 1972. Together, they built a life filled with cherished memories, laughter, and warmth. They cherished spending time at South Padre Island, where sunlight danced on the water during their fishing trips. These moments became the fabric of their lives, woven together with love and shared experiences until Doug’s passing on March 23, 2019.

As a dedicated homemaker, Sherry ensured her family thrived in a nurturing environment. Sherry enjoyed walking along the beach collecting seashells, crocheting blankets, and creating beautiful wreaths. She had a zest for life that included traveling to new places, and she also found joy in the simple pleasure of shopping.

Sherry leaves behind her devoted daughters: Sheila (Brian) Krulicki, Patti (Rodney) Hasse, and Karrie (Andrew) Placher; grandchildren: Christina (Mark) Skaggs, Kelsey (Will) Johns, Ryan LaValey, Madison Krulicki (Ryland Carson), Jackie (Mike) Rau, Brittanyann (Brad) Bekemeier, Samantha (Tom) Anthony, Christopher (Eden) Wiley, Alex Placher, Macenzie LaFlure, and Kaiden Placher; great-grandchildren: Jacob Skaggs, Olivia and Liam Johns, Kenley and Lainee Rau, Brynn and Brenna Bekemeier, Andi and Dani Anthony, and Drake Trautman; siblings: Connie Czeisperger and Kathee Vance; mother-in-law: Tharon Wardlow; sisters-in-law: Chris (Jimmie) Anklam, Jan (Wayne) Rondo, and Missy (Art) Hamm; brother-in-law: Brad (Freddie) Johnson; along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Sherry was preceded in death by her daughter, Tammy LaRose; sister, Barb Martinez; father-in-law, Carl Wardlow; great-grandchild, Ava Johns; son -in-law, Timothy LaRose; brother-in-law’s, Mike Czeisperger, Jimmie Anklam; and dear friends, Denny McKay, Dawn Showalter and Sally Vance.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Sherry on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 1:00 PM until her 4:00 PM Life Celebration at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, located at 1550 Midland Road Saginaw, MI 48638

Sherry’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Kathee; Joyce (Woje); Michelle; Tonya; Norma; her neighbors, Russ and Karen, John and Pat; and Skorupski Family Funeral Home for their outstanding care and support over the years. Their compassion helped guide Sherry and her family through life’s challenges, and their kindness will always be remembered.
