Wilma “Darlene” Davidson (née Angel), age 89, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026.
Darlene was born on July 10, 1936, in Garwood, Missouri, to the late Wilmer Otto Angel and Phoebe Irene Angel (née Martin). She graduated from high school in 1953 and on August 22, 1953, married the love of her life, Alphus “Al” Davidson.
Together, Al and Darlene raised four children-Dennis, Sandra, Judy, and Ronald-beginning their family life in Overland before making Wentzville their home. Eventually, they settled on a small farm, where they learned to garden, care for animals, and learn to live self-sufficiently.
Darlene had a deep love for music and was a talented keyboard and organ player. She and Al involved their entire family in music, forming The Crusaders Quartet, which traveled all over singing gospel music. The group recorded two albums, sharing their faith and talents with audiences near and far.
A woman of service and generosity, Darlene was a mentor to many and was always willing to help anyone in need. She was a longtime member of Fairmont General Baptist Church in St. Peters, where she played piano for many years and helped start several church missions. She was also a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Troy Chapter, and greatly enjoyed researching genealogy.
Darlene owned and operated Dee’s Kraft Korner in Wentzville. In her spare time, she loved making lap quilts and crocheted beanie hats, which she donated to Helping Hands. Even in her later years, after suffering a broken leg and residing in a nursing home, Darlene continued her giving spirit-receiving donated fabric by mail, sewing lap blankets, and sending them back to be shared with others in need.
She also found great joy in tending her flower garden.
Darlene is survived by her four children: Dennis (Donna) Davidson of Montgomery City, Sandra Davidson of Warrenton, Judy (Jerry) Thorpe of Jonesburg, and Ronald Davidson of Jonesburg; two sisters, Frances Eaton and Brenda McCall; 20 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Alphus “Al” Davidson; her brother, Eugene Angel; and her sister, Eileen Baker.
Darlene’s kind heart, gentle soul, and guiding light will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial donations can be made in Darlene's memory to Siteman Breast Cancer Research or American Heart Association in care of Pitman Funeral Home P.O. Box 248 Wentzville, MO 63385
