Clyde Laughlin Cressler of Mechanicsburg went home to be with his Lord and Savior on
January 8, 2026 at Bethany Village.
Clyde was born on February 10, 1943, in Newport, Pennsylvania, to Walter and Helen
Cressler. From an early age, his life was filled with exploring the woods and caring for
animals, including helping injured birds. He was active in the Boy Scouts, played tuba in
the school band, and wrestled from eighth grade through his graduation from Newport
High School, Class of 1961.
Clyde is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Carol (Moore) Cressler;
children, Todd Cressler and wife Shelly; Crista Cressler Stewart and husband Eric and
Christa Joy Cressler born/died Oct. 1964; siblings, Walter (Lewis) Cressler (deceased)
and wife Anita, Christina Cressler Morrow and husband Zeke, Alfred Cressler; William
(Bill) Cressler and wife Roxy; Nieces and Nephews, Walter (Buck) Cressler and wife
Claire, Michael Cressler and wife Gilla: Dana Cressler and wife Laurette, T.C.Morrow
and Logan, Billie Morrow and Scott, Sarah (Katie) Cressler and Dan, Sam Cressler and
Jazmine. From them are many great nieces and nephews. Siblings by marriage, Mary and
Phil Federico, Jan and Vince Feleppa, Tim Moore (deceased). Nieces and Nephews:
Kelli and Jamie Goshom, Mike Feleppa and Shelly, Matt Feleppa and Brooke, Alicia
Moore, Robert Moore. From them are great nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Ella
Cressler, Nathaniel Cressler, Makenzie Stewart Wesp and Tanner, Irelynd Stewart,
Haley Stewart and Gage Stewart.
HIS FAMILY WAS THE BEST PART OF HIS LIFE. HE LOVED THEM AND EACH HAD
A SPECIAL PLACE IN HIS HEART.
Clyde graduated from Shippensburg State College with a degree in elementary
education and taught sixth grade in the Cumberland Valley School District beginning in
1965. He later graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy in 1969.
In January of 1971, Clyde purchased his first pharmacy with his father-in-law in
Meadville, Pennsylvania. Over the next 50 years, until February 2021, he was the owner
and operator of a successful pharmacy organization known for innovation throughout
Pennsylvania, Binghamton, New York, and for a time, Ohio.
Wrestling was a lifelong passion for Clyde. He wrestled for Newport High School with many wins. He also wrestled for Shippensburg State College and won the State Championship at 115 lbs in 1962. In recognition of his lifelong support and contribution to the sport, Clyde was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame on April 28, 2019.
Clyde courageously battled Parkinson’s Disease for 28 years, facing it with dignity and
determination. He and Carol moved to Bethany Village in 2008. In March 2024, Clyde
entered skilled nursing care.
Above all his accomplishments, Jesus was Clyde’s Savior, and his family was the
greatest blessing of his life. His wife, children, grandchildren, family, and friends held a special
place in his heart. He loved deeply and was deeply loved.
Celebration of Life will be at 3:00 PM, Saturday January 31, 2026 at The Rife Center,
325 Wesley Drive, Mechanicsburg. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the time of the
service. Following service dinner is served.
