BETTY LOU BOERS (née Peters), of Sagamore Hills, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, at the age of 80. Betty Lou was known to all who knew her as a genuinely kind and sweet soul—someone whose quiet warmth, gentle smile, and caring heart made people feel welcome and loved.
She was the devoted wife of the late David W. Boers and a loving, proud mother to David O. Boers and Laura Keeney (the late John Keeney). Betty Lou was an adoring grandmother to Ashley (Tylor), Nicole (Devon), Justin (Leanne), David, and Ember, and a cherished great-grandmother to Esme, Stefan, Silas, Oliver, Blair, and Elowyn, each of whom brought her immense joy.
She was the beloved daughter of the late Walter and Betty Peters, and a dear sister to Jack Peters (Irene) and Cindy Peters (the late Jim Dickman). Betty Lou was also a loving aunt and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews, holding a special place in the hearts of her extended family. She remained close to her former daughter-in-law, Patty Boers-Kotlarek.
A 1963 graduate of Nordonia High School, Betty Lou spent many years working at K-Mart in Macedonia, where her kindness and friendly nature were well known. No matter where she was—at work, with family, or among friends—she brought a gentle goodness that stayed with people long after they left her presence.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at Brentwood Health Care Center and Harmony Hospice for their wonderful care and kindness.
