Lynda Dale (Sherman) Dean Obituary

Lynda Dale Dean, 81, of Franklin, a loving mother and “Nana”, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at home, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born on December 11, 1944, in Pickens, SC, to the late Burris F. Sherman and the late Mary C. Sherman. She was also preceded in death by her son, Brian Keith Holliday’1st husband, Johnny W. Holliday; and 2nd husband, Selby Dean.

Lynda's heart was always her guide, she enjoyed the sounds of country and gospel music, the beauty of blooming flowers, and the satisfaction of a well-tended garden. Her hands were rarely still, as they were often found turning the pages of a good book, or lovingly preparing meals that became the center of family gatherings. Her collection of cookbooks was more than a hobby; it was a chronicle of shared memories and a legacy of recipes passed down through generations.

A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Lynda's greatest pride was her family. She leaves behind a lineage of love in her children, Johnny Mark Holliday (Amanda) and Jenny Kelley (Michael); her grandchildren, Jordan Holliday-Millard (Paul), Jonah Holliday (Rachel), Amy Cantrell (Kinley), Kayla Winn (Nicole), Kyle Crews, Dakota O'Neal (Savannah), Benji Holliday, and Matthew Holliday; and her adoring 18 great-grandchildren, each one a precious jewel in the crown of her life.

Lynda was a steadfast member of the Franklin Church of God, where she nurtured her faith and found solace in the fellowship of her church family. Her unwavering Christian beliefs were the compass by which she navigated life, and her actions were a reflection of her faith-filled spirit.

Those who knew Lynda would describe her as the epitome of love and selflessness. Her presence was a comfort, her smile a balm, and her words a source of wisdom. Her legacy is not only in the lives of her family but also in the countless hearts she touched with her generosity and compassion.

As we bid farewell to Lynda Dale Dean, we are reminded of the beauty of a life well-lived, one that continues to resonate through the lives of those she loved. Her memory will be cherished, her influence enduring, and her spirit forever woven into the fabric of the community she so dearly loved. Lynda's journey on earth may have concluded, but her story—written in acts of love and moments of grace—will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
