It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Tanis Mary Caribou, born on November 29, 1999. Tanis was tragically taken from us on January 3, 2026 at the young age of 26.

Tanis will be lovingly missed by her son Justin Caribou; her parents Mavis Lamirande and Leo Caribou; her sisters Nepiyastew Caribou, and Carolyn Caribou; her brothers Tyler Pelletier, Tyrone Lamirande, Tyson Lamirande, Allan Chartrand, and Joseph Caribou; along with many aunties, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly.

Tanis was predeceased by both sets of her grandparents Jeremie & Caroline Caribou and Raymond Parent & Anette Flatfoot and her brother Leo Caribou Jr.

Tanis was an exceptional mother, sister, and daughter and was always there to take care of her siblings. Tanis grew up in PUK and she loved the outdoors, camping, fishing and hunting - including the many outdoor events she did with her parents and siblings. Tanis was very responsible as a young girl. She had the opportunity to take care of her grandmother who needed care due to blindness. Tanis would also often take time to care for others. As an adult, she learned how to bead, enjoyed making things for her family and loved to braid her hair.

A wake service in memory of Tanis will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at 12:30 p.m. Both services will take place at the Aboriginal Funeral Chapel, 724 Selkirk Avenue in Winnipeg. Following the funeral service, Tanis will be laid to rest at Brookside Cemetery.
