Barbara Ann (Vega) Ackley
October 30, 1942 – January 8, 2026
On January 8 th , 2026, our world lost a very special person… mom, grandma, grandma great, sister, friend.
Barb was born in Canton, Ohio, the oldest of seven children. She graduated from Lincoln High School, and lived her whole life serving her family, friends, and the kids of Perry Township. Barb worked for the Perry Local Schools for 32 years before retiring.
She managed the kitchens at Pfieffer, Edison, & Genoa Schools. She always enjoyed the daily interactions with the students and teachers and never failed to put a smile on their faces. Barb had a way of brightening up any room she walked into with her smile and quick wit. She poured her life into everything she did… no half-measures. She was a member of Grace Fellowship for many years and loved her Lord Jesus with her whole heart. While you wouldn’t find her on the street corner shouting the gospel, you would find her showing the love of Christ to strangers and living her life the way it should
be…with love.
She loved knitting and sewing and made many special gifts for her family. Of all the things she loved to do, spending time with her family was her favorite by far. Her favorite words were “Grandma Great”, followed by “Gram”, followed by “mom”. She
loved spending time with her seven “greats” and loved on them constantly. She loved having conversations with her grandkids and would rush to answer the phone when they called.
She will be greatly missed and often remembered.
She is preceded in death by her parents Rufino and Catherine Vega, Dick Ackley, sisters Peggy Alessandro, and Kathy Ott and brother in law Fritz Fockler. She is survived by her daughter Ronda (Tim) Greaves, son Richie (Connie) Ackley, five
grandchildren, Joshua (Lydia) Greaves, Megan (Andrew) Walker, Emily (Brian) Martin, Jessica Ackley (Dominic Moore), Jared (Kinsley) Ackley, and seven great grandchildren, Louisa, Boone, Wren, Ford, Drew, June, and Reid. She is also survived by siblings Betty Fockler, Bob (Terry) Vega, Diana (Nick) Clark, Rodney Vega along with many nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
1 Peter 5:10 – And the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ,
after you have suffered for a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong,
firm, and steadfast.
