Betty Lou Turnbull, age 94 of Woodstown, New Jersey and formally of Galena, Maryland, passed away on January 3, 2026 at Autumn Lake Nursing Home.
Betty was born in Spiro, Oklahoma in 1931 to Carl and Lizzie Kate Bowling. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sisters, Olga, Florine, Billie Price, and Mary Dian, and one brother, Newell. Also, predeceasing her were two grandsons, Roland and Daniel Owen. She now joins her little dog, Rosie.
Betty is survived by her three daughters, Bethea Storicks (Walter), Melissa Owen (Roland) and Claressa Turnbull (Kathy Allen). Also surviving is her “sister” Joann Kincaid. She is also survived by five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She also has many nieces and nephews that she kept in touch with throughout the years.
Betty worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Piper Pool. She loved painting and photography. She was an avid reader and crossword solver. She loved growing flowers, watching the birds feeding at her bird feeder outside her living room window, baking, making cornbread, and sewing for her family. Betty maintained her quick wit right up to the end.
Betty will be missed by her family and friends.
Services will be at the H.T. Layton Funeral Home, 102 South Main Street, Woodstown, on Friday, January 16, 2026, gathering and remembrance will begin at 10:00 AM with service at 11:00 AM.
