Canandaigua – Shirley (Holden) Barnum-Adams, age 97, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, January 8, 2026. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Reginald Curtis (Liza) Barnum; son-in-law, Michael Bond; and two granddaughters, Leah and Lexi. She was predeceased by two husbands, F. Martin Barnum in 2002 and William Adams in 2023; son, Dr. Terry M. Barnum in 2004; and daughter, Sheila Bond in 2024.

Shirley was born in the Town of Canandaigua and was always proud of being a country girl. She was a runway model for businesses in the Canandaigua and Rochester areas. Shirley worked as a payroll / personnel manager for the former Leaming Plastics in Canandaigua. She was a lover of classical and popular music. Shirley always enjoyed her many friends and truly loved children. Her favorite saying was “What’s not to love about children?”. After Shirley retired, she started caring for a wonderful family in Canandaigua with two sets of twins. They were like grandchildren to her.

Shirley was the former president of the Canandaigua school’s PTA. She enjoyed dancing and was a former member of the Century Club. Shirley was a real people-person. Her greatest joy in life was her children, of whom she dearly loved and was extremely proud.

Services will be held at a later date and time to be announced in the spring. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canandaigua.
