Yanceyville, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mr. Kenneth Russell Johnson, Sr. age 74 of 3449 Old Highway 86 North, Yanceyville, North Carolina. He passed away on Thursday, January 08, 2026, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Mr. Kenneth Russell Johnson, Sr. was the son of the late Charles Johnson, Sr. and Thelma Lea Johnson born on May 23, 1951, in Caswell County, North Carolina.

He received his education from the local public schools and graduated from the Caswell County High School, Class of 1969. Later in life Kenneth furthered his education and personal development at Piedmont Community College in Yanceyville, North Carolina, where he received his associate degree in accounting.

In 1973 Kenneth joined and served our country as a proud veteran of the United States Airforce. After honorable discharge in 1975 Kenneth pursued his career as a Textile Floor Technician until his retirement at Burlington Industries Williamsburg Plant in Burlington, North Carolina. He also attended Bibleway Cathedral in Danville, Virginia. In his leisure time he enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, and collecting various record albums, hats, shoes, and coins.

In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by his beloved wife Lucy Johnson, his sister Ella Louise Johnson Kimber; and his two brothers Charles Johnson, Jr. and Earnest Thomas Johnson.

Mr. Kenneth Russell Johnson, Sr. leaves behind to cherish his precious memory with his two sons Kenneth Russell Johnson, Jr. of Brown Summit, North Carolina, and Kenneth Dwayne Johnson of Reidsville, North Carolina; his sister Alisha Ann Johnson-Burris of Durham, North Carolina; his four grandchildren; his best friend Cleophus Swann; and a host of nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

A public viewing for Mr. Kenneth Russell Johnson Sr. will be on Saturday, January 17, 2026; from 2:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mr. Kenneth Russell Johnson Sr. will be conducted at 2:00p.m. on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Yanceyville Missionary Baptist Church in Yanceyville, NC. Pastor A.N. Grier II will deliver the words of comfort.

Interment will follow in the Yanceyville Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Rite from the United States Airforce.
