Kathleen A. (Harris) Thornton, of Warrington, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by the love of her family, on Thursday, January 8, 2026. She was 82 years old.

Kathy was the beloved wife of Michael E. Thornton and the heart of her family.

Born in Chicago, IL, Kathy was the daughter of the late William and Mary Jane (Garvey) Harris. She graduated from St. Fredrick High School in 1961, and later from Marygrove College in 1965.

In 1962, Kathy met the love of her life, Mike. Together they shared 59 beautiful years of marriage and were looking forward to celebrating their 60th anniversary this April. They built a life filled with love, laughter, and faith, settling in Warrington in 1977 to raise their five children.

Kathy was a devoted parishioner of St. Robert Bellarmine Church for more than 49 years. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, tending to her garden, cooking for those she loved, shopping, and enjoying lively games of pinochle with friends. She had a special fondness for hummingbirds, and gardenias were always her favorite flower. Kathy and Mike cherished their annual trips to Sanibel Island, Florida, where countless happy memories were made together.

In addition to her husband Mike, Kathy is survived by her loving children: Lisa Zaborowski (David), Jeff Thornton (Rose), James Thornton, Kelly Czekaj (Jeff) and Matthew Thornton (Suzanne). She was a dear sister to Diane Bishop and Colleen Dye, and was preceded in death by her brother, William Harris, Jr. 

Born on December 13th, the number 13 became Kathy’s lucky number and fittingly matched the number of her treasured grandchildren. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Sarah, Heather, Patrick, Ryan, Stephen, Lindsay, David, and Daniel, and a loving great-grandmother to Anthony, Gavin, Nova, Lily, and Emily.

Kathy had a deep love for golden retrievers and was never without one by her side. She will be dearly missed by her seventh and faithful companion, Lexi.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 856 Euclid Ave., Warrington, PA 18976. Kathy’s family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Interment will be private.
