Assunta "Susan" Materazzo Rowley, 95, of Amsterdam, entered eternal rest on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam, New York.

She was born in Amsterdam on December 25, 1930, a twin daughter of the late Luigi and Concetta (Testa) Materazzo. She was a lifelong resident of Amsterdam and attended Amsterdam schools.

Susan was a communicant of the former St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and currently Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Amsterdam.

Susan was known for her loving Italian cooking, garage sales, a good cup of coffee and always showing up for friends and family. She had an infectious smile that could always light up the room.

She married John J. Rowley on August 27,1950. He passed away on July 13,1993.

Survivors include her two beloved daughters, Mary Lynn DeRose of Amsterdam and Loreen (Alan Pickering) Rowley of Weehawken, NJ. Her cherished grandchildren, Erin (Marissa Drake) DeRose of Boston, MA and Lauren DeRose of Hollywood, CA. Great grandchildren, Gavin Robert Drake DeRose and Ethan Christopher Drake DeRose. A dear sister, Elvira Simeone of Amsterdam, NY. Sister-in-law, Josephine Materazzo. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Susan was predeceased by her siblings, Josephine Petrosino, Ann Materazzo, (Twin Sister) Natalie Biasini and Pat Materazzo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 39 Saint John St., Amsterdam with The Very Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis E.V. as celebrant. Committal will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery Chapel, Main St., Ft. Johnson, NY.
