Joan Marie (Duffy) Fogarty, 89, a lifelong resident of East Greenwich, RI died peacefully in the company of her family on January 8, 2026. She was the daughter of Dr. Philip A. Duffy and Gertrude G. O'Donnell of East Greenwich. She was the wife of the late Raymond D. Fogarty of East Greenwich.

Joan was an avid reader, crossword enthusiast, loved singing and her family. She was a long-time member of Potowomut Golf Club and was a parishioner at Our Lady of Mercy Church.

Joan graduated from URI in 1958 to work as a social worker in Providence. After raising her children as a stay-at-home mom in Bay Ridge she was seen in the community working at Thorpe's Pharmacy on Main Street.

Joan is survived by her four children: Raymond Jr., Donald (Mary Ann), Joseph (Jerilyn), and Patricia (Thomas). Her nine grandchildren: Caitlin, Daniel, Brian, Nathan, Thomas, Quinton, Margaret, Patrick, and Kathleen. And her five great-grandchildren: Caroline, Cassidy, Callen, Cillian, and Harrison.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 65 Third St., East Greenwich. Burial will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
