Vickie Joe Jones, 72, passed away on January 8, 2026 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Hartford City on December 2, 1953 to William Allen Vallad and Imogene (Monroe) Vallad. Her parents preceded her in death.

Vickie was a 1973 graduate of Blackford High School and took great pride in her involvement as a member of the cheer block and as an alternate for the student council during her school years. Bowling was one of her favorite pastimes, and she participated in the sport for more than three decades. For ten years, Vickie dedicated her time to coaching Little League for girls ages 9 to 12, finding joy in teaching and inspiring young athletes.

She valued her friendships deeply, often spending quality time with friends—most recently enjoying card games together at McDonald's. Above all, her family was her greatest source of happiness, and she especially cherished the moments she spent Facetiming with Nova.

Over the years she has been a familiar face around town working at KFC/Taco Bell, Village Pantry and H.P. Products. She was a member of Cornerstone Community Church of the Nazarene.

She will be sadly missed by her son, Johnnie Raye Jones II (companion, Mary Phifer) of Matthews; grandchildren, Autumn Marie Hart and Angel Lucille Jones; her little dog Sammy; special nephew, David Martin and many mor nieces and nephews.

She is also preceded in death by her siblings, Kenneth Vallad, William Vallad, Jr., Ronald Vallad and Sandra Martin.

Funeral service will be at 4 pm Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St., Hartford City with Pastor Brian Campbell officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 4 pm on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at the funeral home.

Vickie will be cremated and her cremains will be interred at Hartford City Cemetery at a later date.
