Ellen Hoagland
Mrs. Ellen Keefe Hoagland passed away on Thursday January 8, 2026, at her home in Milltown. She was ninety years old.
Ellen Hoagland was born and raised in New Brunswick. She graduated from St. Peter’s Grammar School and St. Peter’s High School in New Brunswick. Prior to starting her family, she worked for the Boy Scouts of America as an administrative assistant. She married Mr. John J. Hoagland at the age of twenty-three. John and Ellen Hoagland raised their family of six children initially in the Second Ward of New Brunswick and then moved to North Brunswick, where she provided a loving home. After raising their children, John and Ellen Hoagland moved to Milltown, where Ellen has resided for the past twenty-five years.
Ellen volunteered her time acting as President of the St. Peter’s Hospital Woman’s Auxiliary and as a PTA President for Sacred Heart School. She was a part-time resident of Lavallette where she and her family enjoyed spending their summers at the beach for many years. Ellen and John also loved going on their annual trips to Aruba with their close friends.
Ellen loved being surrounded by her family, and hosted every holiday and special occasion. She always loved to support all her children and grandchildren at their many sporting events, performances, and important chapters in their lives.
Ellen was predeceased by her husband, John J. Hoagland, her son Michael Hoagland, and brother Edwin Keefe.
Ellen Hoagland is survived by her loving children Kevin Hoagland and his wife Eileen, Gary Hoagland and his wife Jacquelyn, John Hoagland and fiancé Joanie Caruso, Chris Hoagland and his wife Staci, and Diane Hoagland and her companion Tom DeStefano.
She is also survived by her brother Hon. John E. Keefe and his wife Jerry and sister Ann Marie Hagerty, her grandchildren Kevin Hoagland Jr., Morgan Hoagland, Samantha Hoagland, Kayleigh Hoagland and her fiancé Sean Severson, Jack Hoagland, Liam Hoagland, Quinn Hoagland, Danielle Figueroa and her husband Louis, Nicole Hoagland, Danielle Caruso, Kyle Urrutia, Lindsay Ragozzino and her husband Frank, Tyler Hoagland, Conor Donegan, and Kiera Donegan and two great grandchildren Jemma Figueroa and Alastair Figueroa.
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday January 14, 2026, at St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church on Somerset Street in New Brunswick at 12 Noon. All other services will be held privately.
