William Francis Premuroso, known affectionately as Bill to his friends and family, passed away at the age of 76 on January 8, 2026, in Valhalla, New York. Born on February 19, 1949, in Yonkers, New York to Jerome and Mary Premuroso. Bill's life was characterized by his dedication to public service, his love for history and trivia, and the joy he found in the company of his grandchildren. He resided In Yorktown Heights, NY majority of his life.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rosalie Premuroso, with whom he shared a beautiful marriage of 46 years, having tied the knot on June 3, 1978. Their union was a testament to love, partnership, and commitment.
Bill was also preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Christine Premuroso, who tragically passed away in 2001 after a brave battle with glioblastoma. He is also preceded by his sister Margaret Ann Figurelli.
He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Stigell, who was a source of pride and joy for him, and her husband Theodore Stigell, who became like a son to him. Bill was a devoted grandfather to his three grandchildren, Andrew, Dylan and Caroline Stigell, who were the light of his life and whom he adored deeply. Bill is also survived by his loving sister Patricia Carol. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews, all of whom will remember him for his warmth, humor and wisdom he generously imparted.
Bill's commitment to his community was evident from an early age. His pursuit of knowledge led him to study Fire Science at Mercy College, laying the groundwork for what would become a distinguished career in firefighting. Bill proudly served as a firefighter and later as a lieutenant for the Town of Mamaroneck, NY, where his bravery, leadership, and unwavering dedication were an inspiration to those who worked alongside him. His expertise and experience eventually took him to the Town of Somers, NY, where he continued to serve as a Fire Inspector, a role in which he ensured the safety and well-being of the community through meticulous oversight and education.
Beyond his professional life, Bill was a man of varied interests. He possessed an insatiable curiosity for history, often delving into the past to uncover stories and facts that he would eagerly share with anyone willing to listen. His love for trivia made him a formidable opponent in friendly competitions.
Bill's legacy is one of courage, service, and the purest form of love—a love that extended from his family to his friends and into the heart of his community.
In this difficult time, we take comfort in knowing that William is now reunited with Rosalie and Christine, and that he will forever be remembered for the incredible man he was.
