Mary Elsie Harbour Mitchell Obituary

Mary Elsie Mitchell, 82, passed away suddenly Thursday, January 8, 2026. Elsie's love for her children was her greatest joy. As a talented singer and organ player, she brought music and joy to her home on many occasions as well at the churches where she sang and was the organist. Fort Trial Baptist Church is where she last served. She was also a compassionate animal lover, with a special place in her heart for cats, dogs, birds, and even opossums.


Elsie attended Bassett High School. She lived and worked in Pennsylvania, Texas and Virginia. At one point in Texas, Elsie was a top salesperson of Tupperware. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Jackson Harbour and Alpha Omega Harbour; husband, Kenneth L. Mitchell; and her stepson, Jeffrey Mitchell. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Gail Conley and her husband Larry Nelson Conley; son, J. Daniel Herring; stepchildren, Cathy Mitchell, Diane Mitchell, Ken Mitchell and wife, Ginny Mitchell; sister, Betty Lou Hopkins; and her grandchildren, Keith Conley and wife Alli, and Brett Conley and wife, Shannon.


Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 am. on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Norris Funeral Services. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 16, 2026, with Joey McNeill and Tony Beach officiating at Norris Funeral Services. Burial will follow the service at Roselawn Burial Park.
