Michelle “Shelly” M. Tharp, 45, of Marinette passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay. She was born on June 5, 1980, to Gary and Mary (Kiefer) Tharp in Menominee. She graduated from Stephenson High School in 1998. On October 6, 2014, Shelly married Kurt Godfrey in Menominee. She had worked as a cook for The Farmhouse Restaurant and Perkins but her favorite “job” was that of wife and mother. She enjoyed making people laugh, helping others, coloring, singing, and spending time with her family.

Shelly is survived by her husband, Kurt Godfrey; son, Ashton Doyal; daughter, Ava Godfrey; step daughter, Olivia Godfrey; mother, Mary Tharp; brother, Gary Tharp; sisters: Melissa (Eric) Tessmer, Nichole (Mike) Kass, Bobbie Tharp, and Miranda (Matt) Beaudo; in laws, Wallace and Susan Godfrey and Pamela Clark; sister in law, Jessye Godfrey; brother in law, Jeffrey Godfrey; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Gary Tharp; sister, Melinda Tharp; and brother in law, Dominic Godfrey.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 13th from 4-6pm at Thielen Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 6pm with Pastor Kent Hulbert officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made directly to the family.
