George Henry Kittle, of Rising Sun, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026. He was born on September 27,1936 in French, Ohio County, Indiana, the son of late Carl Kittle and Katharine Libbert Kittle. George enjoyed spending time with friends and shortly after high school, worked in Cincinnati, OH, staying at the YMCA during the week and returning home on weekends. On September 21, 1958, he married the love of his life, Eunice Ann Cunningham Kittle. Eunice and George often shared the story of how they met on a double date while each was dating someone else. George soon decided he wanted to ask Eunice out. Though she was reluctant at first, George’s persistence paid off. After that date, they both knew they were meant for each other. Following their marriage, George worked at Aurora Lumber in Aurora, Indiana and later Cincinnati Incorporated, where he remained until his retirement in September 1999. He also did side jobs as an electrician and was a skilled carpenter and handyman. George also raised a big garden every year and took delight in sharing his produce with others. He continued to keep busy working at Ace hardware, the Ohio County Recycle Center/free store and doing maintenance for North Ridge Apartments. George was a devoted member of Bethel Unity Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, taught Sunday school, and faithfully assisted Eunice in her music ministry. He also served on the Ohio County Council and the Rising Sun City Council. Many may not know that George and Eunice were baptized on the same day as teenagers, in the same church and the same baptismal pool. True to his joking nature, George loved teasing Eunice that his baptism was “polluted by her sins.” His sense of humor and his generous heart were among the many qualities that made him special. In May 2021, George lost his beloved wife of 62 years, Eunice, which left him deeply brokenhearted. In 2023 he sold their home and moved to Hoosier Haven in Rising Sun, Indiana, where he enjoyed spending time with friends and building relationships. George was preceded in death by his wife Eunice Kittle; his parents Carl and Katharine Kittle; his siblings Floyd Hastings Kittle, Leo Cornelius Kittle, Lucy Ann Dausch, Doris Marie Jacobs, Martha Louise Kittle and Mary Katharine Bunger. He is survived by his daughters, Katherine (Mark) Henderson of Lawrenceburg, IN, and Carla (Tony) Wells of Flatrock, Indiana; four grandchildren, Brandon Ray, Abigail Katherine, Elizabeth Ann and Taylor Ann; and 2 great-grandchildren, Kanaloa Grace and Noa Jai.
