Robert B. Millican, Sr. Obituary

Robert Barnard Millican Sr.—affectionately known as Bob, Dad, Grandpa, Bobby, and Uncle Bob—passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 8th. Born on December 2, 1943, to James Thwaites Millican and Barbara Millican (née Barnard), Bob lived a full and vibrant life defined by family, friendship, and a love for adventures.

Bob graduated from Shaker Heights High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Ohio University. He went on to build a successful career in medical sales, a profession that suited his outgoing personality and natural ability to connect with others. Part of his career took him and his family to North San Diego County, California, where they made many dear friends and lasting memories. Bob and family later returned to Ohio, spending meaningful years in Bath before settling in New Franklin.

A man of many interests, Bob found joy in collecting classic cars and clocks, raising Labrador retrievers, and horses. He had a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, tradition, and the simple pleasures of life. He was deeply patriotic with an appreciation for those who served. His absolute love of a good deal and lifelong question, always asked in jest, of whether he was too good looking for his height.

Bob was immensely proud of his family and treasured time spent with his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He loved attending sporting events, setting off on spontaneous weekend drives—often “going wherever the wind blew him”—and sharing laughter and conversation with friends at Woody’s Breakfast Club, where mornings were always better in good company.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the medical professionals who cared for Bob over the past 14 months. Your compassion, dedication, and kindness lifted his spirits and brought comfort during his journey.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John Millican. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Rosemarie Vandervort Millican; his children, Robert Millican Jr., Georgana and David Pascu, Shelby and Jerry Wright, and Scott and Janna Millican; and his cherished grandchildren, Mary Margaret Wright, Quinn Wright, Finn Pascu, Egan Pascu, Caden Millican, Ethan Millican, and Aine Pascu. He is survived by his siblings James and Marianne Millican, Elizabeth and Chuck Penzenik, Barbara Millican, and sister-in-law Jill Millican, along with their many children and grandchildren.

Bob will be remembered for his generous heart, adventurous spirit, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. His legacy lives on in the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the many lives made richer by knowing him.
