Sarah Lee Farley Collett Lexington, KY - Beloved mother of Cory J. Collett and the late John A. Dohn Jr. passed away on Thursday, January 8th, 2026, at her home with her son holding her hand, following a brief but very brave and valiant battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was born, June 1st, 1953, in Dayton, Ohio to the late Carl Elmer Farley and Ruby Jean Asher. A lifelong resident of Lexington, she attended Athens, Tates Creek Jr and Tates Creek High Schools. She had many talents including dance, painting and most certainly her incomparable cooking abilities. A very beautiful and intelligent lady, she loved the finer things in life and always maintained a lovely appearance. She immensely enjoyed music, quality time with her sons, and her beloved pets. Growing up she was involved in cheerleading, enjoyed playing the piano and was the girl who played sports while wearing a pretty dress. Reared by her grandparents Lee and Maude who owned and operated the long running Belcher's Liquor Dispensary in Lexington, she was surrounded by loving family at all times which was filled with cherished memories she enjoyed sharing.
She first married in 1970 and had her eldest son, whom she affectionately called her "John Boy". In 1985 she would marry a second time and have her younger son Cory 4 years later. She and Cory had a lifelong bond that stood the test of time. She was a devoted Mother who loved her sons better than anything and was the first to cheer them on and be there when needed, always going above and beyond to make sure her boys were safe, healthy and happy. She and Cory were extremely close and vowed to persevere through her cancer battle together and it was a promise that would be kept. A strong woman who stood tall in the face of many tragedies she remained this way throughout her entire life. She was a beautiful soul, and the world is a lesser place without her presence, especially for her remaining son.
In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her eldest son, John Andrew Dohn Jr, beloved grandparents Lee and Maude Gross Belcher, and sister Sharon Frame. She is survived by son Cory J. Collett of Lexington, her beloved dog Jodie, brother Carl B. (Jennifer) Farley, Oregonia, Ohio, sister Lora Chelgren, Green Cove Springs, Florida, sister Rachelle Martinez, Toledo, Ohio, special cousins Pete and Anne Gross, Former Husband Richard "Tony" Collett and a host of other relatives.
