ROBERT LEONARD PURCELL, 90, of Jackson Township, NJ, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2026, at JFK University Medical Center in Edison, NJ.


Born in Trucksville, PA, Robert lived for many years in Syosset, NY before making Jackson Township his home 11 years ago.


He earned his Bachelor’s degree in English from King’s College and proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.


Robert enjoyed a long and fulfilling career with IBM, where he worked in Corporate Community Relations until his retirement.


A man of faith, Robert was a devoted parishioner of The Church of St. Monica in Jackson Township and an active member of the Knights of Columbus.


He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Mary Purcell. Robert leaves behind his beloved wife, Barbara Purcell; his children Mary Lougee of Falcon, CO; Kathleen DePasquale of Westfield, NJ; Margot Raphael and her husband Justin of New York, NY; Robert Purcell and his wife Teresa of Edison, NJ; Kristen Purcell of Freehold, NJ; and Bernadette Purcell of Middletown, NJ. He was the proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren and great-grandfather to 5.


Family and friends are invited to gather for a memorial visitation on Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at The George S. Hassler Funeral Home, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 12, 2026, 10:00 AM, at The Church of St. Monica, 679 W. Veterans Hwy., Jackson, NJ 08527.
