Ricky Everitt Spicer, aged 66, a cherished member of the Austin, Indiana community, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, January 8, 2026. Born on June 23, 1959, in Louisville, Kentucky, Ricky was the beloved son of the late Hershel and Vicie (Asher) Spicer
Ricky, affectionately known as "Dancing Rick," brought joy and enthusiasm to all who knew him. His youthful spirit was most vividly expressed during his high school years when he proudly served as the Austin Eagle Mascot. Ricky's passion for sports was undeniable, with a particular fondness for the University of Louisville basketball team. His hobby of dealing with baseball cards was more than a pastime; it was a way for him to connect with fellow enthusiasts and share stories of sportsmanship and triumph.
A member of the Redemption Pentecostal Church of God in Austin, Indiana, Ricky's faith was a cornerstone of his life.
Ricky's legacy is carried on by his loving family, who will miss him dearly. He is survived by his brother, Nicky (Betty) Spicer of Deputy, Indiana, and a host of nieces and nephews: Nicole, Little Nick, Michael, Jr., and great-nieces and nephews Amber, Owen, Nova Dawn, Eliza Michelle, Ozi, and Maxon, as well as great-great-nieces Miles and Cassidy.
Preceding him in death, along with his parents, were his brother, Michael Spicer, and a niece, Emily Dawn Spicer.
A funeral service to honor the life of Ricky will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Buchanan Funeral Home in Austin, Indiana, with Rev. Jeff Mullins officiating. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation hours from 10 am to 12 noon on the day of the service at the funeral home.
Ricky will be laid to rest at Scottsburg Cemetery in Scottsburg, Indiana.
